Here is a little film that some of you may find interesting. Its german,I think, and was nominated for an oscar.
I think its inovative and extremly well produced, with not a zombie in sight. It goes to show what a little creativity and orignal thought can do.

I found it interesting...definatly harks back to German expressionism visually. In fact the whole thing looks and sounds like it was made in the 1920s. I found it slightly dull and I'm not sure exactly what it was trying to communicate. The idea of duplicating yourself is by no means new, but stylistically this was a bit different alright, although hardly original, given it's rather obvious sources.

Not to say I didn't like it, just not my bag.

I liked it. Its a great little movie. I think I saw the same idea in an episode of the The Outer Limits a few years ago. Some great compositing there too. Lock the camera down and there isnt anything you cant do.

I believe that the film is acctually an animation. Several hundred stills were photocopied and animated in 35mm. Taking this into consideration I thought that the movement of the camera and the overall misenscene was excellent. But I agree that the pace was a little slow and the story unoriginal. Still a very intriging piece.

Another thought. I said it had no zombies in it, but if the 'clones' were copied then they would have no life signs, therefor undead.....

Yeah I saw it at a film festival a while back- I thought it was a cool film. Great idea- but as you say unoringinal. can't remember the end- which i guess says a lot. It was cool that teh film got that old fashioned look so well- it was really like a 1920's german film. I seem to remember some interesting effects with the photcopy machine wiping the shots- instead of a fade or whatever. I like it

I cant beleive someone used the term mise-en-scene on this board. Im in shock.

I didnt know that term was even used in real life. I thought it was was of those made up words that never leave a classroom.

I say we discuss the denotative and connotative meanings. Lets talk about the cool use of of non diegetic sounds.

Oh no I've let the film school cat out of the bag. Put it back before it eats us all....

...well the juxtapostion of modernistic values, ergo the copying machine, with traditional germanic work ethic, counterpoints the intrinsic underlining pathos implied by the....

noooooooooooooo...get me to the pub...beer,tits,fanny,football...ahhh thats better.
